Advice Line Plus
Providing extended support for autistic people, parents and carers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Advice Line Plus
Scottish Autism is delighted to receive funding from The Scottish Government to allow us to provide much needed reassurance, guidance and support to autistic people and their families across Scotland during these uncertain and challenging times.
Thanks to this funding we have extended the reach of our Autism Advice Line, by introducing a livechat function on our website. We are all too aware of the impact this crisis is having on the emotional, physical and mental wellbeing of autistic people and their families. This funding will enable us to reach out and support people at this challenging time.
Advice Line Plus is an extended offering to our Advice Line service and includes the following:
Alert cards
We have therefore created an Autism Alert Card which allows for personalisation to your own situation and can be completed either by yourself or with the help from a carer.
Download your Autism Alert Card.

Live chat
You can speak with one of our experienced Community Advisors via our new Live Chat function here on our website.
The chat will appear on the bottom right hand side of the page.
*Open: Tues - Fri 10am - 4pm
Facebook groups
Facebook groups have been created to provide a safe space for autistic people, families and carers to network, share their experiences, challenges and advice in a community setting. These groups will be monitored by our Community Advisors and will be able to support you if this is required.
These groups are:
Scottish Autism Affinity - a safe space for Autistic people to network.

These groups are private and only members of the groups can see what content is shared and posted. Please read the guidelines within each group when you join.
Autism Advice Q&A
Autism Advice Q&A sessions are run to help provide as much support as we can to autistic people, their families and carers during the Covid-19 pandemic. Keep an eye on our online events page where we will post more Autism Advice Q&A sessions soon.
Advice Line Plus Series
Looking after your mental physical and emotional health at this time is hugely important, and this will look very different for all of us.
We will post a series of short videos that focus on a topic that we gather as a talking point for the autistic community, parents and carers. These topics will follow on from the resources we have created that will hopefully support you to manage your own or somebody you support’s mental, physical and emotional health during this time.
Meet our Advice Line Team, a small, dedicated team of experienced community advisors.
If you are autistic, a parent or carer of an autistic individual or a professional looking for advice, guidance or support you can speak with a member of the team Tuesday - Friday 10am - 4pm (phone line and LiveChat).
Contact our Advice Line by calling 01259 222022 or by e-mail: advice@scottishautism.org including details of which council area you live in.
